Alrededor, dentro, 2014-

Solo show / residency at Casa Vecina, Mexico City.

Curated by Violeta Celis.

Prior to the opening of the show, Libertad, momentarily moved her studio occupying the room to reflect and crosslink two disciplines of interest: sculpture and drawing. In the exhibition space a glass bottle, full of water and graphite dust on the top is presented in addition to a sound installation (in collaboration with the artist Israel Martínez). As the time passes by, the water slowly evaporates leaving the graphite sediment in the interior walls of the bottle; while the "noise" fills the gap with an invisible presence that remains floating in the space. Presences that tell distances between one element and another, and in turn, undeniable closeness.

For the artist, this is the chance to move a sculptural gesture to other places, probably graphic interventions on the wall, performative moments as conversations with colleagues or even actions recorded on video, moments that will be taking place  during the 3 months of the show. In parallel and as part of her work, the artist will produce a small publication, which will be available towards the end of her intervention.

Botella, grafito, 2014. Glass bottle, graphite, water, wood. 7.5 x 7.5 x 92 cm

In the exhibition space, a glass bottle, full of water and graphite dust on the top is presented. Within the days, the water of the bottle evaporates, allowing the graphite dust to stick to the interior wall of the bottle, creating a drawing. The images presented above show the drawing process from the piece presented on April 2014 to April 2015.
